Job Overview
The Strategy Director will lead the development and execution of high-impact strategic initiatives that align with our clients’ goals.
This role focuses on delivering excellence in consulting, planning, and intelligence while also driving creative strategy, thematic storytelling, and audience-first experience design. You will collaborate directly with our creative and delivery teams and drive the success of some of the world's most influential brands.
In addition, you will be instrumental in building relationships with senior executives (SVP to C-level) within our clients and pioneering new services for the agency.
The ideal candidate is an expert in events and experiential marketing with a proven ability to translate insights into creative strategies that inspire ideas, unify design, and deliver measurable results.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
- Consulting: Serve as a trusted strategic advisor, providing expert consulting services across a range of business-centric topics (e.g., portfolio planning, event revenue modeling, organizational structure development, thematic positioning, narrative arcs, and experience design that ladder up to brand purpose).
- Planning: Collaborate closely with creative teams to develop and refine experience strategies, write compelling creative briefs, and ensure the strategic direction is seamlessly integrated across all of an event’s touchpoints.
- Workshops: Plan, prepare, and facilitate in-person and online workshops with clients to explore insights and inspiration, identify key opportunities, develop experiential frameworks, generate creative directions, and inform the direction of event strategies.
- Intelligence: Lead research and measurement efforts, using data-driven insights to inform analysis and recommendations that spark both creative and business impact.
- Client Engagement: Work directly with senior executives within our clients’ organizations to build solid and lasting relationships and deliver strategic insights that drive their business forward.
- Service Expansion: Pioneer the launch of new service offerings with partners across Opus Agency.
- Innovation: Continuously explore new approaches, technologies, and methodologies to enhance our strategic offerings and keep Opus Agency at the forefront of the industry, including trend fluency, foresight practices, and creative methodologies that expand the agency’s storytelling and design capabilities.

To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate the following chops:
- Experience: 6+ years within an event marketing agency, including at least 4+ years in a strategy-specific role
- Event Industry Expertise: Extensive knowledge of the global events and experiential marketing landscape, with the ability to deliver world-class consulting, planning, and intelligence services.
- High-Tech Clients: Familiarity with the high-tech sector and its event landscape.
- Consumer Trends: Perspective on the latest consumer trends and their impacts on B2B events.
- AI Integration: Experience applying AI to the marketplace and enhancing the attendee experience.
- Attendee Journeys: A deep understanding of a typical attendee journey at multi-day corporate events.
- Red Threading: Experience shaping narratives, themes, and conceptual strategies for major events, with the ability to bridge data-driven insights with imaginative storytelling.
- Content and Creative Strategy: Demonstrated expertise in content strategy and creative strategy, with a proven ability to craft compelling narratives and innovative approaches.
- Sponsorship Strategy: Strong understanding of sponsorship strategy, including developing prospectuses and effective sales approaches.
- Event Production: Solid familiarity with event production processes, with additional experience in speaker coaching being highly advantageous.

HOW WE’LL TAKE CARE OF YOU
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting salary for this role is between $130,000 and $165,000. Our salary ranges are based on third-party national average market compensation analysis. The actual salary is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. The salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
